April 16th, 2024 is the 22nd World Voice Day. The theme of this year’s World Voice Day is “Resonate, Educate, Celebrate!” In order to promote the reconstruction and improvement of voice and speech function, and enhance the healthy concept of public scientific use of voice, the Department of Otolaryngology of Fujian Provincial Hospital held a popular science lecture and free clinic on voice and speech in Fujian Provincial Rehabilitation Education Center (Fule Kindergarten) on the morning of voice day. Director Chen Ting, the chief physician of the Department of Otolaryngology, Fujian Provincial Hospital, shared the physiology of breathing, swallowing and pronunciation, and explained the throat function from the anatomical physiology of the throat.
After the lecture on popular science, Dr. Chen Ting and Dr. Hou Chenjie conducted a free clinic on children’s voice and speech function and children’s articulation organs. On the spot, speech pathologists Zhang Huisi and Shi Qiaozhao helped popularize the knowledge about articulation organs. This free clinic answers questions for parents of students, improves the public’s understanding of voice and speech, and jointly protects the public’s voice and speech health.
