Iris Rodriguez and Soledad Sacheri, Lisa Popeil, MFA in Voice, creator of the Voiceworks® Method, will present a 2-hour free workshop on “Classical vs Contemporary Vocal Styles” in Buenos Aires from 6-9pm on April 16, 2025. Featuring guest famed Argentinian Tango Singer Raúl Lavié.

Western vocal music can be separated into two main categories, classical singing and contemporary singing (also known as pop singing or commercial singing). In this in-depth workshop, Lisa Popeil will contrast and compare these two categories of singing. Topics to be covered include vocal registers; resonator shaping; vibrato types and use; laryngeal heights; pharyngeal widths; varying support methods; the mechanism of “belting”; 3 types of head voice; dialect shifts; and the conventions of phrasing as heard in each separate genre.
