The professional workshop “Presbyphonia – the aging voice from a medical perspective” was held on April 14 at the ENT Clinic of the Hradec Králové University Hospital (ENT FNHK). The event was opened by Prof. MUDr. Viktor Chrobok, CSc., Ph.D. MUDr. Jakub Dršata, Ph.D. then presented an overview of the medical aspects of presbyphonia, including anatomical and physiological changes in the vocal tract; injection laryngoplasty was emphasized among the therapeutic options. MUDr. Kristýna Néma further supplemented the program with a short lecture on interesting facts about voice aging in humans and animals. The key part was the subsequent practical workshop focused on voice examination with commentary. Participants from the ranks of voice professionals (singers and voice pedagogues), who met the entire limit of 11 registered, had the opportunity to gain insight into diagnostics and examination methods focused on presbyphonia. The event thus successfully followed up on previous workshops on WVD and is a prerequisite for further cooperation between the phoniatric department of the ENT department of the FNHK and regional voice pedagogues and artists.
