EVERY DAY A VOICE (Phyland, 2026)
Every day is a voice day…
for work and for art,
for speaking, singing
and being heard.

On April 16, we listen wider: to the bright, the fragile, the fierce, the different
a chorus of colours crossing oceans,
each voice carrying a world.

We tend them like living instruments:
kept supple, not strained,
used with care, not worn thin.

We speak to connect, not to divide,
to reach, not to drown out
and we remember, with quiet gratitude,
that our voices can also be our votes.

The Department of Otorhinolaryngology (ENT) at Kodagu Institute of Medical Sciences will be commemorating World Voice Day with the theme “Caring for Our Voices.” The programme aims to highlight the importance of vocal health and promote awareness about proper voice care among students and professional voice users.

As part of the event, a guest lecture will be delivered focusing on the importance of vocal hygiene, prevention of voice disorders, and strategies to maintain a healthy voice, particularly for individuals who depend heavily on their voice in their profession such as teachers, singers, and public speakers.

To encourage student participation and spread awareness in an engaging manner, online competition of short reel creation, and voice awareness quizzes will be organized. These activities aim to foster creativity while educating students about the significance of protecting and caring for their voices.

Through this initiative, the department hopes to sensitize the community about vocal health and emphasize that a healthy voice is essential for effective communication and overall well-being.
