EVERY DAY A VOICE (Phyland, 2026)
Every day is a voice day…
for work and for art,
for speaking, singing
and being heard.

On April 16, we listen wider: to the bright, the fragile, the fierce, the different
a chorus of colours crossing oceans,
each voice carrying a world.

We tend them like living instruments:
kept supple, not strained,
used with care, not worn thin.

We speak to connect, not to divide,
to reach, not to drown out
and we remember, with quiet gratitude,
that our voices can also be our votes.

Details of your World Voice Day Event

In celebration of World Voice Day, graduate students from the Master’s program in Speech‑Language Pathology at East Tennessee State University will engage the campus community in a reflection on the meaning of voice. First‑year SLP students will visit various locations across campus and invite participants to respond to the question: “What does your voice mean to you?”
Participants’ responses will be shared anonymously and displayed on a collaborative poster using Post‑it notes, visually representing the diversity of perspectives on voice across the ETSU community. Informational flyers related to vocal health and voice awareness will also be distributed during the event.
This activity is part of the Voice Disorders and Voice Lab curriculum and aims to promote awareness of vocal function, vocal health, and the personal, social, and professional importance of voice.
