EVERY DAY A VOICE (Phyland, 2026)
Every day is a voice day…
for work and for art,
for speaking, singing
and being heard.

On April 16, we listen wider: to the bright, the fragile, the fierce, the different
a chorus of colours crossing oceans,
each voice carrying a world.

We tend them like living instruments:
kept supple, not strained,
used with care, not worn thin.

We speak to connect, not to divide,
to reach, not to drown out
and we remember, with quiet gratitude,
that our voices can also be our votes.

For professional voice users such as teachers, broadcasters, hosts, singers, customer service staff and trainers, vocal health directly affects work performance, career longevity and physical and mental well-being. Long-term high-intensity and frequent voice use easily causes vocal cord congestion, edema, and may even lead to vocal nodules and polyps. Traditional voice care methods lack systematic understanding of phonation patterns, breathing habits, vocal load and vocal pathology, with limited effect.
Scientific voice care is a comprehensive plan based on voice medicine and speech pathology, integrating professional vocal training, vocal hygiene and lifestyle adjustment. It helps professional voice users reduce vocal injury, relieve phonation fatigue, prevent voice diseases, and achieve safe, efficient and sustainable vocal performance for long-term career development.
Scientific Voice Care Guidelines
Master proper phonation, avoid overusing the voice such as shouting and prolonged speaking; control pitch and volume when singing and do not strain for high notes beyond your range. Learn scientific skills like combined chest-abdominal breathing and laryngeal muscle relaxation exercises such as chewing, humming and bubble phonation; use soft onset instead of hard attack when speaking.
Drink warm water before and after work to keep the throat moist, and perform self-throat massage to relax laryngeal muscles.
Avoid irritating foods including spicy food, roasted nuts, barbecue, overly sour, salty and sweet food, carbonated drinks, caffeinated beverages and cold raw food.
Quit smoking and drinking to prevent harmful stimulation to the throat and vocal cords.
Maintain a regular lifestyle, balance work and rest, avoid overfatigue and ensure sufficient sleep.
Prevent colds, dress appropriately with weather changes; keep warm and wear masks outdoors in winter, and avoid prolonged exposure to electric fans or air conditioning in summer.
Improve air quality, keep indoor ventilation, reduce exposure to kitchen fumes and dust, wear masks when going out, and stay away from poorly ventilated crowded venues.
Keep physical exercise to boost immunity, increase lung capacity and strengthen the function of vocal organs.
In conclusion, vocal health care for professional voice users should follow the principle of prevention first and integrated treatment, guided by voice medicine and speech pathology. When sub-health vocal symptoms appear, take vocal rest and physical therapy first; if necessary, receive professional voice training or microsurgical intervention.
