The IV Symposium: A Day of Voice at the University of Illinois is being held to celebrate World Voice Day. The event will take place on Thursday, April 24, 2025, from 3:30 PM to 5:00 PM Central Time and will be hosted virtually via Zoom.
The symposium is organized by Pasquale Bottalico, Eric Hunter, Keiko Ishikawa, and Lady Catherine Cantor Cutiva. It features a series of short presentations by invited speakers exploring the intersection of voice, therapy, research, and accessibility.
The program begins at 3:30 PM with Mark Berardi’s talk titled “Integrating Voice Pathology Metrics with Psychiatric Speech Analysis.” At 3:50 PM, Eva van Leer will present “Voice therapy is hard! Effect of changing your voice on mental effort and pupil dilation.” Following that, at 4:10 PM, Clarion Mendes will speak on “All Voices Matter: Lessons from the Speech Accessibility Project.” The final presentation, at 4:30 PM, is by Francisco David Gonzalez Camelo and is titled “A different kind of research: The existence of other voices.”
