Unlike vision and hearing, there is no recognition of chronic life-changing voice disorders under the Disabilities Act. Nor is there any requirement for a workplace to make reasonable adjustments for someone living with chronic dysphonia.

Let’s use our fingers to speak to our Local Members of Parliament and Senators – to help them understand how different a day at THEIR work would be if they too lived with vocal challenges that were not recognised yet made life extremely difficult. We need policy makers and politicians to understand so that they can speak up on our behalf.
