Details of your World Voice Day Event

In celebration of World Voice Day 2026, Empowered Voice Rehabilitation is hosting a free, 45-minute educational event exploring the critical yet often overlooked connection between Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS), hypermobility disorders, and vocal health.

Led by medical speech-language pathologist Ashley Michaelis, MS, CCC-SLP, this session will dive into the pathophysiology of the "hypermobile voice." We will discuss how systemic collagen laxity can lead to laryngeal instability, respiratory support challenges, and secondary Muscle Tension Dysphonia (MTD).

Key learning objectives include:
1. Understanding how connective tissue disorders impact vocal fold function and stability.
2. Identifying common symptoms like vocal fatigue, breathiness, and tissue fragility.
3. Practical strategies for vocal sustainability, including Semi-Occluded Vocal Tract (SOVT) exercises and specialized vocal pacing.
4. Empowering patients and providers with advocacy tools for the clinical setting.

This event is open to individuals living with EDS/hypermobility, caregivers, and healthcare professionals interested in specialized voice care.
